A. Periodontal disease is a chronic and progressive disease. In most cases it can be successfully treated and controlled. Early treatment of periodontal disease is not only less invasive (non-surgical), but usually results in a better long term prognosis. Left untreated, gum disease will only worsen.

ABOUT DR. LYONSDr. Garrett Lyons, Jr. attended Georgetown University School of Dentistry where he was President of the 1985 graduating class and received the Pierre Fauchard Award for Leadership. He was previously President of the Delaware State Dental Society, and currently, Dr. Lyons, Jr. is a member of the ADA, AGD, and a fellow at the American Society of Dental Aesthetics, Crown Council, and an accredited member of the AACD where he served on the Board of Directors from 1995 - 1999. He was the chairperson of the Public Relations Committee in 1994, and a member of the Board of Governors, as well as as well as an accreditation examiner, for the AACD.
